The Presentation

After last month's hiatus, we're coming back with a different presentation format for this meeting. This month we'll be having lightning talks. We have two great presenters giving 15 minute talks, though others are welcome to bring a talk of their own to present as well! After the talks, everyone is invited to stick around, play games, and socialize with your fellow developers.

Jeff Carouth will be presenting The MicroPHP Manifesto and Erick Beck will be presengin RSS and the Simplepie Library.

If anyone else would like to present, feel free to prep your talk and bring it. This is definitely not intended to be formal presentation format, so any style of presentation / talk / discussion is open game insofar as it relates to PHP, web development, or technology.

When and Where

Once again, Improving Enterprises will be hosting us and being the gracious sponsor for food. We'll meet at 6:15pm on the third Thursday of the month (April 19th). Please RSVP. Select April 19th from the event date select box. We hope you'll be able to join us!

The Speakers

Erick Beck is the Director of Web Development at Texas A&M University Division of Marketing and Communications. He has been doing web programming since the early days of PHP3 so always appreciates new tools that make the process easier.

Jeff Carouth works on the Internet. He's been a very passionate web developer since 2003 and works tirelessly as a member of Team Dev at Liftopia. When he's not working you'll likely find him at a community event. He owes a huge debt to the tech community surrounding technologies he uses on a daily basis, so he triest to give back as much as possible. He is a co-organizer of the BCS PHP User Group, a frequent participant in WebGeekHappyHour, a conference speaker, and one of the team that brought HTML5.tx to life in 2011. Follow Jeff as "jcarouth" on Twitter and Github.

B/CS PHP Users Group

The Bryan/College Station PHP Users Group meets on the Third Thursday of each month to talk shop. Topics presented include PHP, JavaScript, HTML, SQL, and other topics of interest to the PHP software development community.

The group is (mostly) technical, but is highly receptive to newcomers. No background in PHP required; bring yourself and an open mind. The group is (and always will be) free to the public.

To converse with the community, join the mailing list or reach out to the coordinators:
